The Eight Winds which provide a source of fresh and complete air are praise and approval, ridicule, suffering,  benefit, destruction and devastation, gain or acclaim, and loss (of bad repute).

If you wish to understand anything or anyone's seemingly self sabotaging habits of ridicule, first listen and analyze their sufferings.  Judgment passed without considering the sufferings is without proper merit to be able to stand on its own.  That is a viability issue.  A viability issue means if the judgment is not able to stay standing without the host, it is properly disposed of completely, totally, and utterly in and of itself.
